An Interventional Radiologist is a doctor who specialises in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to treat a variety of health conditions without the need for major surgery. This procedure is not only a less invasive type of surgery and disease treatment but also provides benefits to patients by minimising post-operative risks. Interventional radiologists use medical imaging modalities such as X-rays, CT scans, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to guide specially designed instruments through the body to treat health problems such as fibroids, adenomyosis, liver and bile duct diseases, kidney disorders, enlarged prostate, haemorrhoids, bleeding due to trauma, lung diseases and even treatment of localised cancer.
