Meet Dr Gary Sudwarts - Interventional Radioligist

Dr Gary Sudwarts is a Cape Town based Radiologist with a special interest in Interventional Radiology.

He grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and received his primary medical degree from the University of Cape Town.

Subsequent training in London and degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg led to him eventually relocating with his family back to Cape Town.

He is a lecturer at the University of Cape Town and holds a sessional appointment at Groote Schuur Hospital performing UFE's on State funded women.

Dr Sudwarts works closely with gynaecologists and fertility specialists. Having worked for many years as a general radiologist and training doctors in radiology, he now devotes most of his time to the microinvasive treatment of uterine fibroids. 

Meet Dr Maja Wojno - Interventional Radioligist

Dr Maja Wojno is a Specialist Radiologist with a special interest in Interventional Radiology.

She achieved her primary medical qualification at Wits University in 2004 and ran her own GP practice before specialising in Radiology at the University of Cape Town. Dr Maja brings her own special love and energy and she is passionate about patient care.
Dr Maja is an identical twin. Her sister Tina is also a doctor, a Microbiologist.

Meet Dr Andrew Griffiths - Anesthetist

Dr Andrew Griffiths will be your anaesthetist in Johannesburg. He is extremely experienced, particularly in the skill of conscious sedation.

Dr Griffiths has an infectious smile and is well loved by his patients. He has two little girls and spends as much time on the golf course as his wife Nikki will allow.

Meet Dr Amit Behari - Anesthetist

Dr Amit Awath Behari is a CapeTown based specialist anaesthesiologist in private practice with a keen interest in procedural sedation. Dr Behari works with Dr Sudwarts at UCT Private Academic and Kingsbury Hospitals and utilises a technique of conscious sedation for the procedure which offers the following benefits over general anaesthesia:

  • fewer complications
  • decreased incidence of post operative nausea
  • faster recovery time

Bianca Ferreira is responsible for taking you through the administrative process of assessment and booking your procedure. Bianca is hyper-efficient and a stickler for the details. She has two children and loves spending time with her family when her fisherman husband isn’t at sea.

Meet Nkosinathi Mazibuko - Lead Accounts Manager

Nkosinathi joined the Parklane Radiology Practice as a Creditors Clerk a few years ago. He was quickly promoted to Submission and Authorisation Administrator. He is extremely efficient and always willing to help patients in a calm, friendly and professional manner. He is primarily responsible for obtaining authorizations and submitting claims to Medial Aids on behalf of patients. He is consistently efficient and reliable and to top it off, has a great sense of humour!

What is an Interventional Radiologist?

An Interventional Radiologist is a doctor who specialises in interventional radiology (IR), which is a specialised field of radiology that uses minimally invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in the human body. Interventional radiology is often also referred to as Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) or Surgical Radiology. This is not only a less invasive form of surgery and internal disease treatment, but is also beneficial to patients through the minimisation of postoperative risks.
